Will there be no social, community-focused, intellectual, entertaining and educational festival at Lake Balaton this year? DE!HOGYNEM Festival — a Hungarian name roughly meaning “Oh, yes there will.”

Presented by the DE! Action Community:

DE!HOGYNEM Festival

11–13 September | Balatonalmádi

  • Talks
  • Concerts
  • Community experiences

Our film The Price of a Vote, followed by the observer network we organised to prevent electoral fraud, showed the strength of Hungarian civil society.

Building on this momentum, we created the DE!HOGYNEM Festival to make room for open thinking, public dialogue and collective action.

From 11 to 13 September, inspiring conversations, debates, workshops, concerts and community programmes await everyone who wants not only to follow what is happening around us, but also to ask questions, think and take action.

At the DE!HOGYNEM Festival, you are more than a listener. You can ask questions, join the conversation, debate, share your views and meet people with whom important public issues can be discussed.

Three days where a new kind of public dialogue meets the late summer atmosphere of Lake Balaton.

DE!HOGYNEM Festival – serious ideas in flip-flops.

The central question of the weekend

What does freedom mean to you?

Throughout the festival weekend, we will explore this question together. Speakers, guests and participants alike will help shape our shared thinking.

This is not about finding one correct answer. It is about listening to one another, discovering new perspectives and searching for common ground together.

They will definitely be there

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

Who organises the DE!HOGYNEM Festival?

The festival is organised by the DE! Action Community Association. By spring 2026, the organisation had become an important voice in Hungarian public life through its film The Price of a Vote and the election-observer network created around it to help prevent electoral fraud.

When will the DE!HOGYNEM Festival take place?

11–13 September 2026.

Where exactly is the festival?

On the shore of Lake Balaton in Balatonalmádi: at Wesselényi Beach and Erzsébet Park.

Does the festival pass really cost this little?

It really does :) Whether you visit the DE!HOGYNEM Festival for one day or the entire weekend, admission costs 4,900 Ft. We also offer a low-cost camping ticket for those who would like to camp. Residents of Balatonalmádi can attend free of charge by presenting their address card at the venue.

Why can I choose to pay more for my ticket?

Many people in Hungary believe that we need places where we can ask questions, debate, think, laugh, meet and act together for something that matters to all of us: our future and the kind of country we want to live in. Every supporter ticket therefore means much more than admission. The amount above the standard ticket price helps the DE! Action Community Association continue its work and makes it possible for the DE!HOGYNEM Festival to happen now and in the future. If you are able to give a little more, you give us space, momentum and opportunity.

Stand with Us – 25 000 Ft

Along with your three-day admission, the amount above the standard ticket price supports the work of the DE! Action Community and helps make this festival happen.

Give momentum – 50 000 Ft

Along with your three-day admission, you give us momentum. You help make room for more interesting people, important ideas and meaningful encounters — and help ensure there is a next chapter.

Create space – 100 000 Ft

Along with your three-day admission, you help create an open, free and active community space whose impact does not end with the festival's final day.

If you believe in what we are doing, stand with us. Let us make it happen together. Thank you for every contribution!

What accommodation is available?

A campsite is available a ten-minute walk from the festival, with showers, toilets and access to electricity. We offer this option at a symbolic price under the name Camping Ticket on the ticketing page. Balatonalmádi and the surrounding towns also offer many accommodation options for the festival weekend. You can find more information in the Accommodation section.

How can I get to the festival?

Balatonalmádi is easy to reach. The festival venue is practically next to the railway station and can easily be reached on foot. By train Direct trains run between Budapest-Déli and Balatonalmádi, including the Kék Hullám InterCity, Vízipók and Katica services. The fastest journey takes approximately 1 hour 40 minutes. By bus Travelling by bus from Budapest usually requires a change in Veszprém, so the train is generally the more convenient option. By car from Budapest The journey is approximately 112 km and takes around 1 hour 50 minutes in normal traffic. Take the M7 towards Székesfehérvár, then continue towards the northern shore of Lake Balaton. By boat Balatonalmádi has its own port, so you can also arrive by boat from other towns around Lake Balaton. The port is located on Véghely Dezső Street.

Do I need to buy my ticket in advance, or can I buy one at the venue?

We recommend buying your ticket online in advance, but tickets will also be available at the venue.

What food will be available during the festival?

On-site vendors will offer a broad selection of meat, vegetarian and vegan food.

Can children attend?

The event is family-friendly and children are very welcome. Admission is free for children under 14.
